Stakeholder Forum - Health Center Controlled Networks: Helping Communities Reach Meaningful Use

On Monday, July 26, 2010, from 10:00 am – 12:00 pm ET, National eHealth Collaborative (NeHC) will be hosting a Stakeholder Forum on Health Center Controlled Networks: Helping Communities Reach Meaningful Use.  This Stakeholder Forum is an opportunity for all health IT stakeholders, especially those working to help healthcare providers meet the requirements of the new Meaningful Use rule, to learn how Health Center Controlled Networks (HCCNs) can be a resource for developing health information exchange capabilities within a community.

HCCNs are at the forefront of assisting community health centers in utilizing health information technology to improve health care delivery and improve the health of the populations that health centers serve across the nation. They support the acquisition, implementation and use of electronic health records for numerous health centers, provide population and disease management services, are exchanging data among providers and provide data warehouse and quality reporting to improve care. HCCN services are not restricted to community health centers.

NeHC Board Member Michael Lardiere, LCSW of the National Association of Community Health Centers will kick off the discussion by talking with three HCCNs that are also Regional Extension Center grantees about their programs and opportunities available for providers in their areas, and will provide an overview of HCCN capabilities nationwide that are available to provider practices outside of the community health center world.  By participating in this Stakeholder Forum, participants will have an opportunity to hear from and ask questions of:

  • Abigail Sears – CEO, Oregon Community Health Information Network, Inc.
  • Walt Culbertson – Regional Extension Center Program Director, Community Health Centers Alliance
  • Michele Russell – Sr. Director, Business Development, Health Choice Network, Inc.
