Tom Kauley, a founding member of NHIT's National Advisory Council, Unexpected Transition!

Tom Kauley, a founding member of NHIT's National Advisory Council, made his unexpected transition in mid-September 2013, leaving a legacy of service and commitment that few can equal. At the time of his passing, he served as Senior Consultant to the National Indian Health Board's HITECH Regional Extension Center (REC). He provided leadership for the Center's development and established partnerships with national and regional Tribal Health Organizations across the nation, serving 2,700 primary care providers through the provision of HIT resources and technical support.

Tom Kauley had over 26 years of experience in furnishing health and education services to American Indian and Alaska Native communities across Indian country. He was an enthusiastic support of NHIT and recently participated as a presenter in our webinar focused on "safety net" RECs.

NHIT honors Tom's many accomplishments and contributions to assure health quality, equity and justice for communities of color. We extend to his family, friends and colleagues our heartfelt condolences
