Luis Belen Assumes Leadership Role as NHIT Collaborative CEO

 
Washington, DC. Today Ruth Perot, Co-Founder of the National Health IT Collaborative for the Underserved (NHIT Collaborative), announced the appointment of Luis Belen, as Chief Executive Officer of the NHIT Collaborative. Belen previously served as NHIT Collaborative's Senior Consultant for education/outreach, planning and marketing. As CEO, he will implement the organization's strategic plan and forge relationships with "Safety Net RECs", HIT vendors and multicultural agencies. With a focus on racially and ethnically diverse communities, Belen will lead NHIT Collaborative's efforts to promote and support HIT adoption among providers and consumers.

Belen brings to this assignment 23 years of education and business experience, most prominently as CEO of Medic Success. He is acknowledged as a key national leader in the Latino community. Belen also currently serves as National Chair of the HIMSS Latino Community. His work has been acknowledged in "O", the magazine published by Oprah Winfrey, Univision News and the HIMSS Weekly Insider. His awards include recognition by the Puerto Rican/Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, Palm Beach County as CEO of the Year. He has also been nominated as "trendsetter of the Year" by the Association of Hispanic Health Executives.

In announcing Belen's appointment, Perot stated: "Luis brings incredible vision, energy, and focus to NHIT. His extensive relationships with key stakeholders and organizations focused in underserved communities will make a major contribution to our efforts to ensure that all communities benefit from HIT advances. We have valued his work as a Senior Consultant and look forward to celebrating his accomplishments in this important leadership role."
